Exploring the invisible, the indeterminate, and the unfilled as a space for imagination, reflection, and new meaning.

RE-SEEING

(NULL) SPACE World is developing a new programme of activities entitled re-seeing: an editorial and visual series in which artists, designers, photographers, and other creative voices are invited to look at the world anew through their own lens. The programme is rooted in the core philosophy of NULL SPACE: exploring the invisible, the undefined, and the not-yet-determined as spaces for imagination, reflection, and the creation of new meaning. The term null space refers to a dimension of zero—an apparent absence from which clarity, direction, and potential can emerge. From this perspective, the organisation investigates how imagery, design, and visual culture can contribute to alternative ways of seeing and understanding the world.

MISSION

The mission of NULL SPACE is to build a platform for contemporary visual culture where design, art, fashion, architecture, (digital) visual language, and philosophical reflection converge. The organisation aims not only to present creative work, but also to make visible the thought processes, references, and perspectives behind it. NULL SPACE focuses on makers who work across disciplinary boundaries and whose visual language contributes to innovation within the creative industries. Rather than concentrating solely on the finished work, the programme also considers how an image comes into being, what a maker sees, and how audiences can be encouraged to look at the everyday world with renewed attention.

PREMISE

The development of re-seeing responds to a need to make creative practices visible from the perspectives of the makers themselves. Contemporary creative practices increasingly move between disciplines: photography, film, objects, text, performance, fashion, design, digital culture, and spatial interventions continuously intersect. NULL SPACE World aims to provide a platform where these different ways of seeing and making can come together, placing not only the final result at the centre, but also the maker’s thinking, intuition, methodology, and imagination. For each edition, a maker is invited to develop a new visual, cinematic, spatial, or object-based narrative within the framework of re-seeing, drawing from their own practice and perspective. The resulting work may take the form of photography, film, moving image, an object, installation, text, graphic work, or a hybrid format. Each contribution will be published on the digital platform and accompanied by an in-depth interview exploring the maker’s working methods, references, themes, and perspective.

INTENT

re-seeing contributes to the development of design quality by encouraging makers to consciously reflect on visual composition, context, narrative, and modes of presentation and publication. The programme promotes experimentation, research, and critical reflection by focusing on the processes behind images and on the individual perspective of each maker. At the same time, the programme has a broader social and cultural relevance: it encourages audiences not to take existing images, environments, and visual conventions for granted, but to approach them critically, curiously, and from multiple perspectives.

AUDIENCE & PRESENTATION

Audience engagement will be developed through the digital platform, social media, newsletters, editorial collaborations, and potential physical presentations. NULL SPACE already has an established visual identity and a growing network across fashion, design, photography, and contemporary visual culture. By combining compelling visual work with accessible and substantive interviews, the programme is designed to engage both professional audiences and a broader public with an interest in contemporary culture.

The digital strategy plays an essential role in this approach. Each publication will be launched through a carefully phased campaign incorporating visual excerpts, quotations, behind-the-scenes material, and references directing audiences towards the full work and accompanying interview.

In addition, the visual narratives developed through re-seeing will be presented in public spaces across the city, for example through temporary installations, collaborations with cultural venues, and participation in cultural programmes such as Museumnacht. In this way, contemporary visual culture becomes accessible to people who may encounter the work outside online platforms or specialised cultural publications.

SUMMARY

Overall, re-seeing forms a coherent programme in which presentation, talent development, research, editorial practice, and audience engagement reinforce one another. It directly supports NULL SPACE’s mission to make new visual perspectives visible and to provide makers with a context in which their work is not only presented but also critically and conceptually explored.

Through the combination of artistic freedom, editorial guidance, and public dissemination, NULL SPACE World aims for re-seeing to contribute to a progressive, critical, and high-quality visual culture within the creative industries, while establishing a platform through which this culture can be developed, contextualised, and shared.
